Job description

We are currently seeking a strong, experienced sales executive who will be responsible for sponsorship and exhibition space sales on three to four annual events across North America. These are prestigious conferences and exhibitions and have credibility and support from leading private sector and government institutions.


The primary role will involve developing partnerships with Sponsors and Exhibitors:
• Selling to existing and potential sponsors and exhibitors to meet and exceed sales revenue targets.

• Cold calling prospects and selling the benefits of sponsoring or exhibiting at the event.
• Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with key sponsors and exhibitors
• Researching potential sponsors and securing financial sponsorship from commercial organisations. 
• Maintaining telephone contact with key sponsorship contacts to establish their promotional strategies. 
• Floorplan management and allocation of expo booth space

• Keeping abreast of market developments and identifying and researching new growth areas for sales.
• Ensuring that all sales administration is completed to a high standard including letter writing, keeping    database up-to-date etc...
• Attending industry functions when required.
• Working onsite during the build-up, open period and breakdown of all the shows actively helping clients with their onsite requirements.
• Collating and producing sales plans and reports as required.

Requirements

• Excellent track record of sales success.
• Ability to build rapport with potential and existing clients.
• The ability to independently source and close new business
• Experience in selling sponsorships and exhibition space
• Excellent written and oral communicator.
• Good organisational skills.
• Ability to be resourceful and think laterally.
• The ability to work both independently and as a team player.
• To work calmly under pressure.

 

Advantageous

Previous experience in port, transportation, maritime and/security business is desirable but candidates with relevant transferable skills and experiences may be considered.


Fluency in French or Spanish would be an advantage.

The candidate must be proactive in exploring the universe of the market they are working on, and comfortable engaging key decision makers in international companies. It is crucial that this candidate has the confidence and ability to make a high volume of high quality sales calls on a daily basis, engage the prospects and create quality proposals. The candidate must have the ability to listen to the prospect and employ a consultative sales approach, well researched on every call, and require an intelligent, engaging approach.
